DUES and FEES

Chapter members are invoiced in October by the TXSSAR Treasurer for their total annual dues amounts owed to the local, state and national SAR organizations.  When received, the TXSSAR Treasurer separates out the state portion and sends the local (Cradle of Texas Chapter) and national (NSSAR) organizations their portions of the annual dues.

The amount of local dues are set by each chapter and can change year-to-year.  Within the TXSSAR there are about 44 chapters.  Local dues are currently $9.50 for about 29 chapters.  In the other 15 or so chapters local dues currently range from $12.50 to $40 annually.  Annual dues for the Cradle of Texas Chapter #33 are currently $14.50.  Dues may also vary among state societies.  Currrently, the annual dues to the TXSSAR are $12.50 and may be different in other states.  NSSAR annual dues are currently $35 for regular members.

Regular and Junior Member Annual Dues

The amount of annual dues also depends on the type of membership: regular, junior, dual, lifetime and perpetual.  The following discussion describes the annual dues amounts for different types of memberships.  The annual dues for the Cradle of Texas Chapter 33 for regular (standard) and junior memberships is summarized in this table.

Dual Membership Annual Dues

Cradle of Texas Chapter members who are also members of another Texas chapter pay $62 plus the other chapter’s local dues.  The other Texas chapter’s dues may be anywhere between $9.50 and $40 depending on the chapter.  Cradle of Texas Chapter members who are also members of a chapter in another state pay $62 plus the other chapter’s state and local dues.

Lifetime and Perpetual Members Annual Dues

With a lifetime membership, a member only pays annual local and state dues.  Once a member  purchases a perpetual membership, he pays nothing further to local, state or national SAR organizations.  The costs of lifetime and perpetual memberships vary by age.  Perpetual memberships cost twice that of a life membership.  Compatriots wishing to purchase a Lifetime or Perpetual Membership should complete the National Life Membership Plan form.  The cost of a lifetime membership at any age is shown in the following table.

The following table provides several examples showing the costs of the two different types of memberships at a number of different ages.

If a Cradle of Texas chapter member purchased a lifetime membership at age 65, he would pay $485 for the lifetime membership, but would then only have to pay total annual dues of $27 thereafter.  If he purchased a perpetual membership at age 65 for $970, he would never have to pay any further annual dues.  The costs of these two types of memberships decrease as the member’s age increases.  Examples are shown for purchases at ages 70, 75 and 80.

As of Dec 2021, there are 8 Lifetime and 9 Perpetual members in the Cradle of Texas Chapter, SAR.  Seven of these hold both Lifetime and Perpetual memberships.

Application Fees

There are quite a number of different types of applications and fees that cover a wide range of situations for Cradle of Texas chapter SAR compatriots as summarized in the following table.  The total cost of each different membership application type includes the application fee and the first years’ dues.
